The Minnesota State High School League Why We Play initiative was put in place to promote Education Based Activities in Minnesota. As part of a larger conversation with coaches and AD’s we went a step farther and challenged our sports leaders (captains) to develop a purpose statement on Why We Play the sports we do. We will highlight a few Rogers High School’s leaders and their purpose statements throughout the school year.
More Information on Why We Play can be found here: https://insideoutinitiative.org/progress/insideout-statewide/minnesota/
Today’s students are: Braedon M and Nate F.
Braedon participates in Soccer and Track & Field. His Why is:
“The reason I decided to play high school sports was to improve my athletic ability while improving myself as a person. It is important for me to show respect to others and also my commitment and responsibility as a captain to the team.”
Nate participates in Cross Country and Track & Field. His Why is:
“Athletics brings balance to ones life and for me it stresses authenticity in all I do. The common hardships that you will endure with your team will build your empathy and concern for others.”
