Rogers Varsity Volleyball lost its first match of the season against conference rival St. Michael Albertville on Thursday night. The Royals started the match slow losing the first two sets to the Knights, 13-25 and 19-25. It looked like it was going to be a quick win for STMA as they led Rogers by as much as 6 points deep into the third set at 8-14, but the Lady Royals had different ideas. Through aggressive serving and resilient court coverage, Rogers chipped at the lead and frustrated STMA to take the set 25-22. The Royals had the momentum and with new found confidence they took the 4th set from the Knight by a score of 25-20. The deciding fifth set was played much closer by these two conference contenders with neither side getting more than a two point lead, before STMA prevailed to win the set over Rogers 13-15 and take the match. The loss dropped the Royals record to 4-1.
Rogers JV defeated their STMA counterparts 25-15, 25-22 to improve to 5-0. The B-Squad remained undefeated for the season as they handled the Knights 25-22, 25-21. 9A lost 16-25, 18-25. 9B outlasted STMA in their tight match winning 26-24, 25-27, 15-9.
