Rogers vs. Maple Grove

Maple Grove comes to Rogers High School Fieldhouse on Friday night in a showdown where one team will earn their first win of the season.
The Royals (0-3) have dropped games to Moorhead, Osseo, and Chaska thus far, losing by 16, 6 and 5 points respectively. The Royals also lost Sam Orth for the season, a key addition at the forward position that will be hard to replace moving forward. Megan Secrist, Emily Rubbelke, and Autumn Yelich will be among the Royals players that will try to step up in Orth’s absence.
Through three games, Raven Schwieters (9.0 PPG) and Haylee Fingalsen (8.7) lead the Royals in scoring.
Maple Grove (0-1) is coming off a successful 2015-16 season where the team went 17-9 in the regular season and advanced to the second round of the section tournament before falling 53-49 to Elk River. In the season opener, the Crimson lost to Wayzata 57-43.
Like many teams, Maple Grove is adapting to a new team, losing four of the team’s five leading scorers from last season. Junior forwards Rebekah Tyler and Katrina Theis look to man the post for the Crimson, while junior guard Annika Rosa and senior guard Skylar Dodge lead the Crimson backcourt. Mark Cook is the head coach of the Crimson.
Game time is 7:15 p.m.
