The Rogers Royals cross country team competed in their conference championship on Tuesday, Oct. 18. They did well as a team, with the boys taking fourth place out of nine teams and the girls taking seventh out of 10.
Two boys, Hyrum Teasdale and McKone Corkery, received all-conference honors, while Lucas Bistodeau received honorable-mention honors. Teasdale finished in ninth place with a time of 17:23.73, Corkery finished in 13th with a time of 17:52.78 and Bistodeau finished in 30th with a time of 18:24.19.
The girls’ top runner was Nicole Beutz who finished 31st overall – missing an honorable-mention award by one place – with a time of 22:19.09. She was followed by Hannah Teasdale in 36th (22:31.49), Anna Cargill in 37th (22:34.91), Ava Duke in 38th(22:45.16) and Ellie Cargill in 40th (22:55.58).
While he would always like his runners to place higher, head coach Chad Kreuser was happy with the way his team ran, and looks forward to them improving at sections.
“For the most part our boys runners are running pretty healthy,” he began. “We’ve got some girls who are injured, but they’re some guys and girls who are running some of their fastest times right now. Hopefully they can get into Anoka and run some (personal records).”
