Cross Country

Our goal is to provide young athletes with a lifelong joy of running.  Throughout the season each athlete will be provided with healthy lifestyle information, goal setting, travel opportunities, and team building activities.  We expect athletes to be dedicated, have a good attitude and try their best on a daily basis.  Whether you have ran in the past or are a new runner, you will still find a great atmosphere and have the chance to excel.


August 7th – Fall sports informational meeting.  We will meet in choir room at 6:30pm at the HS.  Registration forms are available beforehand starting at 6pm in the commons.

August 14th – First day of practice! We will begin practicing as a team from 8am-10pm every morning until teacher workshop week.  Starting August 28th practice will be from 2:30pm-4:30pm.


Typically practice will last two hours.  Plan ahead for this and try to schedule appointments and other obligations outside of practice time.  There are some days where we might be more or less than the two hours, check the “Weekly Update” tab for announcements about this.  We will practice every day, rain or shine.

All high school and middle school athletes start practice on August 14th.  Practice will be from 8am-10am until teacher workshop week.  Starting on August 28th practice will be from 2:30pm-4:30pm.  Once school starts on September 5th the middle school will join the high school and practice from approximately 3:15pm-4:30pm.

Saturday practices are at 8am, attendance will be taken at Saturday practices.  These are strongly recommended for any aspiring varsity athletes.  We will use Saturday practices as a way to explore new trails and enjoy team bonding after running.  One way to support your athlete would be to host either a brunch at your home for Saturday runners or bring snacks for afterward.  Due to the size of the team you can choose to split costs with another family or host on your own.  If you would like to host a refreshments and food after a Saturday practice please email Coach Litchy.  You can check the calendar posted on the “Schedules and Rosters” tab to see which Saturdays are available.

Morning practices are optional but recommended for high mileage runners.  Ask one of the coaches if you are unsure whether you should attend or not.  Morning practices will start the second week of school once per week, typically on Thursdays (check the “Weekly Update” tab for information) at 6:00am.  If you need to leave afternoon practice early or have to miss for an excused reason, mornings are a way to make up that missed time.  We will have a run group and also open the weight room in the mornings.
